Street Ritmi's son, Pristina urban figure in PDK, Culture Minister Memli Krasniqi, has now climbed to the stage as chairman of The PDK, the party that was hardly supposed to come out of the hands of its founders, who were also among the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Memli Krasniqi is currently president of the Democratic Party of Kosovo after receiving the party's majority votes. The one at the PDK Convention, which has been held today, has taken the trust of delegates to lead the party.
But who is Memli Krasniqi?
Memli Krasniqi was born in Mitrovica on January 25th 1980, where he conducted elementary school “Hasan Pristina”.
Middle school he conducted at the “Jvdet Doda” in Pristina, as he completed his studies on Political Science and Public Administration at the Pristina University Faculty of Philosophy
Krasniqi has finished training in International Relations at the London School for Economy and Political Science (LSE).
In 1999 the 2000s has worked as a journalist for the American news agency Associated Press, while in 2002 he was Director of Public Relations at the Kosovo Telemedicine Centre.
For many years he has been involved in music and has worked on various musical projects, mainly as text-scriptors and as a member of the “Ritming Road”.
By 2004 his political journey has begun. He was actively engaged in the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), initially leading the Centre for Political Studies that has operated within the party chairman Hashim Thaci's cabinet.
With the Parliament for Good Governance of the PDK established, Krasniqi has been appointed head of the Youth Department, while in October 2006 the head of Kosovo's Democratic Youth has been elected the PDK's youth subject representing its members between the ages of 16-30.
From this position, he was also a member of the PDK's Headship. In February 2013, Krasniqi was elected deputy chairman of PDK for Organising and Youth Affairs.
From the 2006/2007 academic year, it has been engaged in several semesters as legalising subjects from the field of international relations at Victoria College and the Iliria College. Krasniqi is also a regular member of the American Association for Political Science and the British Association for International Studies.
In the 2007 parliamentary elections, Memli Krasniqi has been elected Kosovo Parliamentary Commission for Education, Science, Culture, Youth and Sports deputy.
In October 2008, the government's Political Council has been appointed.
He has been a minister twice, leading the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports from 2011 to 2014 and from 2017 to Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development.
Internationalisation of sports and culture, as well as increased budgets for these two sectors, were two of the estimates he received for his work in the MKRS. In the MBPZHR, meanwhile, it has been praised for increasing its agriculture budget, which has impacted direct on greater support for Kosovo farmers.
In all national elections in Kosovo, since 2007, Memli Krasniqi has been elected deputy 6 times, always being an honour to the 10 people most voted in the PDK.
In the 2017-2019 Kosovo Assembly legislature, Krasniqi has been chief of the PDK Parliamentary Group.
Meanwhile, in the 2020-21 legislature, he is deputy speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.
Memli Krasniqi is 41 years old. He and his wife, Melize, have three children: Snow, Mal and Vera.
