Democratic League of Kosovo MP Hykmete Bajrami has said they have strongly opposed the customs union during 2016.
In 2016, when the LDK led the government, when the trade union, within which was the customs union, has been proposed, we have objected to how strongly we have convinced Montenegro's prime minister, and we have jointly rejected this. What has happened today and what we have seen is the most complex issue we need information about. We saw that the Government of Kosovo was not even officially invited, so it's not that much is said. For us the starting point is Berlin's” process, it stated in Dukagnani.
Meanwhile, LDK official Faton Bislimi has said that since Kosovo does not find its interest within this initiative, there is no reason to participate.

Kosovo would be harmful to its part if it did not find its own interest within this initiative. If we don't have national interest, what would be the reason to be part of it? The most harmful part has been the customs union”, it has indicated.
Meanwhile, Kosovo, with the Washington Agreement signed on September 4, 2020, had agreed to join this initiative. By contrast, today the agreement for Mini-Shengen, already amended at the Balkan Open, where northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Serbia President Aleksandar Vuciq were participating.
