LDK: Government Must Have Greater Co-ordination With US for Dialogue

The Democratic League of Kosovo requires the Government of Kosovo more active co-ordination and involvement of the United States in dialogue with Serbia, exploiting the moment created with the president, as no final agreement is reached otherwise. According to them, Kosovo is a luxury and no comfort to continue dialogue in eternity. [...]
LDK chairmanship member Faton Bislimi for Kosovo Press says Prime Minister Kurti's first two meetings in Brussels with the Serb side are continuing the previous dialogue, not the new process, as the government leader is considering.
Despite the rejection of Prime Minister Kurti's proposals in the dialogue process, Bislimi says that it should not be expected that Serbia would agree with them, but insist on an agreement that does not violate Kosovo's interests.
The last “meeting that took place in Brussels is in the wake of previous meetings, it is the continuation of the dialogue process that has started much earlier. Normally now in different format because of the new leadership in Kosovo. What we have seen is both you and us are the proposals that have been made by Kosovo and are rejected by the Serb side. But, we do not expect Serbs to agree with us, agree with what we offer, and consider that it is the ideal solution for open problems. What is important, which I hope and call on the Government of Kosovo to make the dialogue process develop in full co-ordination with the United States, without whose role we will unfortunately not reach agreement with Serbia, but we could not even implement an agreement that we could reach”, he says.
Bislimi says Kosovo has no luxury nor comfort to develop dialogue in the endless, while inviting the moment created with US Joe Beden president to be used and has openly expressed that it expects final agreements with mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.
Kosovo has the luxury and no comfort to continue dialogue in eternity because it is a heavy burden for us. We have a good historical destiny, but even now especially now that we have a new elected president, Joe Biden, a close friend of Kosovo's Albanians in general. He in the first official letters he has sent to the leaders of our institutions has said he expects a comprehensive final agreement offering mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia. That is the goal, I believe, that it would serve Kosovo's national interest that the delegation in Brussels and whatever forms focus on achieving this”, Bislimi declares.
Bislimi declared that dialogue exceeds any government and party, as it is national interest. He said how the LDK will not avoid responsibility, as even performance in the dialogue will be key indicators in Kosovo's image in the international arena.
“The performance in the dialogue will be key indicators in continuing to build Kosovo's image in the international arena. The dialogue, which has now lasted for over a decade, is a huge burden to Kosovo and exceeds any government and party. As such, the sooner we get rid of this burden is better for Kosovo. We have never misled the responsibility of the opposition. Our opposition is in public government policies, where we can offer better alternatives. The LDK is not a follower of the establishment of opposition to words and resentments. We are followers of the creation of opposition with better alternative”, Bislim adds.
On Monday this week, Prime Minister Albin Kurti held the second meeting in Brussels with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq. While it has been warned that the next meeting is expected in September.
