Kurti has said that American and European capitals should have co-ordinated co-operation for Western Balkan states, among other things, for security through NATO membership.
“to restore our transatlantic alliance, I suggested synchronising Washington and Brussels in the Western Balkans as we work for three purposes. 1. Democraticisation by strengthening rule of law. 2. Security through NATO membership. 3. European unity through Western Balkan membership in the EU”, Kurti has said.
He has also said that the states of the Western Balkans should democratise their countries rather than advance bad ideas like that of Mini-Shengen.
“At the Prespa Forum for Dialogue I said Kosovo understands the frustration of Albania and Northern Macedonia in membership talks. But we cannot turn our backs on the EU because it is our next European home. Instead of pushing bad ideas like Mini-Shengen, we have to democratise our countries”, Kurti said.
