Kurti changes attitude for Wyman U.S.A.: The sides stick to the September 4th agreement.

The United States expects Kosovo and Serbia to adhere to the obligations of the Washington Agreement signed on September 4th 2020. But they are still far from the positions of Kosovo Prime Minister and the government of Serbia. Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that Serbia cannot become a member of the Lake of Weyman, and for that it has not changed its stance from previous ones. The prime minister made this statement at a conference for media in his 100-day rule, and only a few days after the US released a feasibility study for Weman Lake, which is part of the September 4th agreement that was signed at the White House by former Prime Minister AvdulH Hoti. Albin Kurti has opposed most of the pledges made by the government Hoti in Washington.
Our “stances regarding Weman Lake are the same, of course, can be tested and researched, but our job is to consider Uyman as it is, Kosovo's artificial lake for Kosovo. We already paid him. As far as Washington's agreement is concerned, the most important point is the last point already to have been realised by Israel”, Kurti said. Days ago, the U.S. released a report on Wyman proposing the formation of a commission or committee for the Iber River, which would help discuss the possibilities of water resources management between the parties. Weiman is an artificial lake built on the bed of the Iber River in northern Kosovo. And for the September 4th agreement, the United States said they “expect Kosovo and Serbia to adhere to the obligations made in Washington on September 4th, 2020”.
“We hope our partners act with confidence and continue to adhere to obligations undertaken in Washington. The implementation of Washington's agreement creates a basis for future agreements and provides opportunities for broader co-operation between the parties. The obligations taken only bring benefits to the citizens of Serbia and Kosovo, and we encourage them to continue with their implementation”, the Voice of America broadcasts an American State Department response. Washington's agreement on improving Kosovo-Serbia economic reports, among other things, envisions Kosovo and Serbia's commitment to building road and rail ties to connect their capitals in order to improve the movement of goods and people, developments that could attract Western investments.
Regarding Prime Minister Albin Kurti's unchanged stand for Wyman Lake and northern Kosovo also reacted to authorities in Serbia, claiming they are <x0hisedare” in this section. The director of the office for Kosovo in Serbia's government, Petar Petkoviq, referring to the stances of Kosovo's prime minister, said that “such a relationship is understandable, when you don't have your own, you target someone else. That is why he (Kosovo prime minister) tries to cast ash in public view that Wyman is the property of so-called Kosovo, and that he can go north when he wants”, B92 quoted Petkov as saying.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq will meet on 25 July in Brussels under the European Union's mediation. The parties still have opposing positions to reach a final agreement. Serbia's president said he is for a compromise agreement, meanwhile, that official Pristina does not want to negotiate any compromise. President Vuciq said it broadcasts Euronews Serbia, that Serbia is ready to discuss a compromise, already is the people who will decide at the end.
It's not all easy and simple and that we should tell the world to leave Kosovo because it's ours alone. It is not easy to combine it with what is the real situation, but it is also a myth that Serbia and the Serbian people should not enjoy any rights in Kosovo”, Vuciq said. According to him, a rational, pragmatic approach for resolving Kosovo's problem is needed, creating more trust between Serbs and Albanians.
“Without a compromise solution, this means that someone can support the conflict between Serbs and Albanians, and this could lead to catastrophe and conflicts that no one needs”, Vuciq told Euronews Serbia. Despite statements of compromise, however, Vuciq said that “Kosovo will never take a seat at the UN”.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in turn, does not prefer to ask questions about the association of Serb municipalities in the north and the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. However, he said, “for concessions should be asked by past governments”.
When Serbia's president declares he will never recognise Kosovo, should not those who have made concessions so far on behalf of recognition be asked? I have the principled position, right about the Republic. So honestly, let us deal with justice and employment, pandemic management. And these dialogue questions are very good for my ancestors. Why did they accept association, billboards, etc., they have to ask”, Kurti said.
Kosovo and Serbia, former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and President Aleksandar Vuciq, on September 4th 2020, signed the White House in Washington, two documents for normalising economic reports, in the presence of former US President Donald Trump. The United States last week handed over to the Kosovo government and Serbia's, the feasibility study for the Lake of Weyman, a study that is envisioned in meeting this agreement. Prime Minister Albin Kurti, at his government's 100-day conference, said tests and studies can be produced, but according to him, “is our duty to consider Lake Weman, as it is, Kosovo's artificial lake. “We paid off and performed many decades ago”, Kurti said. The Uyman Lake was built in 1972, with a $45 million loan from the World Bank, then ratified by the Kosovo District Assembly and Yugoslavia's Federation Assembly. The Republic of Serbia insists that it inherited the former Yugoslavia's debt, so it claims that it has a right to own Weyman Lake. /dw/
