Kosovo has signed the contract with Turkey for the purchase of 14 armoured military vehicles with weapons equipment, has confirmed to Radio Europe official sources within the Kosovo Security Force (FSK).
State news agency Anadolu has also announced that the first export of the Vran-type Turkish armoured vehicles produced in co-operation with defence firms in Turkey will arrive in Kosovo.
Vuran at KSF early next year
According to sources within the Kosovo Security Force, which have talked about Radio Free Europe, The KSF has contracted the purchase of four Wuran-type vehicles with a 4 dreamer, while the other ten are of the same company, but of the type KIRPI, equipped with weapons.
All these armoured vehicles are multifunctional devices. A portion of them are expected to arrive in Kosovo early next year”, the Free Europe source from KSF told Radio Europe.
According to information provided by the state news agency Anadolu, Kosovo will be the first foreign state to use these armoured vehicles with a 458 type withdrawal.
In the Anadolu agency's announcement, it is said that in the first phase, two units of armoured vehicles will be produced and sent to Kosovo.
Wuran cars are produced by the Turkish commercial company for military vehicles, BMC Otomotive, in co-operation with the biggest defence equipment firm Asselsan.
These vehicles are now used by Turkey's security forces, and they have high mobility and stability, as well as can operate in serious climate conditions and difficult terrain.
