The Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms has reacted to threats received by the opinionist, Kimete Berisha.

KMDLNJ has strongly condemned the threat to Berisha, as have the threats being posed to other journalists.

However, Kimete Berisha has not presented the case to the Kosovo Police, nor has he made public the name of the threat, Kosovo Police must launch ex-offitio investigations that Kimete Berisha's post should be taken. Kosovo police have sufficient professional capacity that, through the Cyber Intelligence Unit, investigate the case and identify the threat author as having acted very successfully in similar cases before”, has been said by KMDLNJ.

Full response:

Opinionist Kimete Berisha yesterday, in a post on social networks, has stated that she has been threatened because of her writings and tests, by one person whose name she has known but that she has not wanted to make it public for readers and followers on social networks or other media. Also, Kimete Berisha has declared that the case has not been presented to the Kosovo Police because he lacks confidence in police and justice organs. It is not the first time Kimete Berisha has been threatened because of the attitude he expresses through scriptures. In yesterday's post, it also tells of the text of the threat that, in addition to threatening author Berisha directly, uncrustedly offends and threatens members of her family, both alive and dead.

The KMDLNj strongly condemns this threat, as well as threats to other journalists as attempts at insulting and obstructing free speech and freedom of speech, which is the typical attempt of dictatorial countries to impose an information uniform, always according to standards defined by those who have power, regardless of who is in power. For this very reason, in the press freedom and tolerance index of journalists' work, Kosovo is ranked high in the negative context.

KMDLNY has already recommended that all those who feel threatened by a scripture, analysis or post or post of those with a mandate to create an opinion through professional, fair and fact-based information should address the relevant authorities of justice and not take it into their own hands, even if it is only in the form of verbal nature.

KMDLNj supports Kimete Berisha and all journalists who are unjustly threatened and who have professional and moral mandates to inform the opinion that their number is not small and that day is increasing.

KMDLNj calls for journalists and those who create opinions to be responsible and professional in the work that they do, on the contrary, have to face professional and legal consequences.

Freedom of speech, freedom of speech, the right to inform and create information are basic human rights, and, as such, they are incompatible and should be respected. In the case of the opinionist, Kimete Berisha, the most mentioned human rights violation has been flagrantly violated and, to the worse, we have an even more serious, right to life.

Despite Kimete Berisha's failure to present the case to the Kosovo Police, nor has he made public the name of the threat, Kosovo police must launch ex-offitio investigations that Kimete Berisha's post should be taken. Kosovo police have sufficient professional capacity to investigate the case through the Cyber Intelligence Unit and identify the threat author as having acted very successfully in similar cases before!
