Replacement of artificial obstacles that have been placed on the road to the Decani monastery, at the entrance of the area, by units belonging to the KFOR mission, was a decision made by them in agreement with local authorities.

Thus said in a KFOR communiqué, stressing that they consider it necessary to replace old obstacles with new obstacles in order to ensure a continued and effective level of defence and security.

In fact, it is well known that the area around the Decani monastery is of high artistic and cultural interest, and has attracted tourists and researchers for decades. This last step will contribute to improved quality of life, both for local populations and for tourists visiting the monastery and its surrounding areas”, the communique says.

KFOR further says the Decani Monastery is the only religious object preserved by KFOR, while all other religious objects are preserved by Kosovo Police or are not preserved at all.

Local Decani authorities have not yet provided any clarification regarding the case.
