Police in Haiti said they have arrested a doctor who believes he is the key suspect “in organising the assassination of the Haitian president, Jovenel Moise.
Police said Christian Emmanuel Sanon, 63, citizen of Haiti, has gone there by private jet in early June for <x0 political “=x1>.
Chief of Police Leon Charles said the initial plan was to arrest the president, but the <x0->mission then changed”.
Charles gave no more details.
President Moise, 53, has been killed at his residence on 7 July.
Police have blamed 28 foreign mercenaries earlier.
The president's wife, Martine Moise, was injured in the attack and then sent to the United States for treatment.
She has said the attack took place so quickly that her husband has not been able to say “not a single word”.

A delegation of senior American security and justice officials has arrived Sunday in Haiti to assess the security situation.
Moise has been president of Haiti the poorest country in the two Americas since 2017.
He has faced corruption charges and has been challenged by several anti-government protests.
