Despite the many challenges brought by the pandemic COVID-19, thanks to the commitment of the workers and management of the Kosovo Energy Corporation has been achieved to overcome the plan for the first six months of this year.
“KEK has managed this year to exceed the electricity production plan for 2%. In the same period last year, production of 3 million and 320 megawatt hours of electricity has been accomplished, while this year has produced 3 million and 390 megawatt hours of electricity. In addition to making coal, the plan for 1% has been exceeded. In the first six months, it was scheduled to produce 4 million and 250 thousand tons of coal coal, while 4 million million tonnes of coal were carried out, said Progress Kabashi, task leader of KEK executive chief.
During this period KEK has continued to prove it is a factor of stability in the energy sector, as well as one of the main pillars of the country's economic development, being the main producer of electricity, with which it is managed to cover 94% local consumption.
Under the three-owned Majority Supply Agreement, KEK has also succeeded in increasing the amount of energy exports from which there has been increased revenues.
“In the first six months of this year, an inflow of 21m euros has been realised, compared to the same period last year in which 12m euros have been realised, is an increase of 74%. It is noteworthy that the average price of electricity exports realised in the past year has been around 24 euros for megawatts hours, while this price this year has been around 50 euros for megavat hours”, KEK chief executive chief Progress Kabashi has said further.
He has announced that capital remont of the A4 plant unit Kosova A is under way and that the same will return to operation within September.
Then it is becoming the capital remont of Excavator E 9-B, which will end in the second week of December.
Also under way are regular annual remontes of the two T thermal power plants' generation units C Kosova A and T C Kosova B, which assists in their most secure operation, and in realising production plans.
