The insistence of the Vetevendosje Movement has been mentioned in this letter during the time it was in opposition for this process to be transparent.
Kosovo's “Democratic Institute (KDI) is addressed with this public request to provide transparency about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process. The Vetevendosje movement at the time it was in opposition has consistently insisted that transparency and accountability to the Assembly and citizens about this process are key. Now that you lead with Government, we expect you to adhere to these principles”, it says on paper.
In addition to mentioning Prime Minister Kurti's failure to report for the June 15th meeting in Brussels, KDI has also raised concern about tomorrow's meeting to be held in Brussels in the middle of Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislim and the Serbian side.
The lack of transparency is growing today, when the meeting of the chief negotiator is being held in Brussels, Mr. Faithful Bislimli with the Serbian side, while the Parliament and the public are not notified about this meeting, the topics to be discussed, as well as the position Kosovo Government will present. The same concerns apply to the summit, warned of July 25th, between you and President Vuciq”, it is said further there.
Full letter:
Your Honor, Prime Minister. Albin Kurti,
The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) is addressed with this public request to provide transparency about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process. The Vetevendosje movement at the time it was in opposition has consistently insisted that transparency and accountability to the Assembly and citizens about this process are key. Now that you lead with Government, we expect you to adhere to these principles.
On June 15th, you attended the first European Union-brokered meeting with the president of Serbia, where you submitted four proposals. Neither before nor after your visit to Brussels have you reported to the Parliament regarding the Kosovo Government's position on the future of this process, as well as more concretely about this meeting. There are still more details to clarify your proposals presented in Brussels as remaining to clarify the steps you will take as Government under this process.
Lack of transparency is deepening even today, when the meeting of the chief negotiator is being held in Brussels, Mr. Faithful Bislimli with the Serbian side, while the Parliament and the public are not notified about this meeting, the topics to be discussed, as well as the position Kosovo Government will present. The same concerns apply to the summit, warned of July 25th, between you and President Vuciq.
The closure of the process creates space for dezinformation, especially the fact that this significant process has long been becoming a cause of political and social polarization. Therefore, KDI invites you as soon as you address the Kosovo Assembly, as the highest foreign policy watchdog and report on meetings held respecting the principle of informing MPs, before and after any meeting within dialogue with Serbia. The executive report in the Assembly is constitutional responsibility, above all, of responsible governance.
