John Bolton talks whether Albin Kurti should respect the Washington Agreement.

“We still do not know what the Biden administration's position is on the Balkans”, said John Bolton, an American diplomat and former adviser to Donald Trump.
But he also says that “if Albin Kurti is not interested in Washington's deal, then that deal is dead”.
As Bolton points out, the important question is what the Biden administration will take to the Balkans in connection with Trump, but also that Washington is currently dealing more with domestic issues than with foreign policy.
Asked how much Balkans are the focus of the current US administration, he said:
Well, it's definitely an important question, but I don't think we really know the answer at this point. Biden's campaign has avoided answering many foreign and domestic questions, and I think the Biden administration is focusing on domestic issues at present, not foreign policy, so I don't know when we will get an answer to that question “.
He further declares that when he tried to intervene in the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, and with the suggestion of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, among other things, and when he was a US national security adviser, Europeans were very unhappy when they heard his interest.
“The EU has been negotiating for more than a decade without any significant progress and the US would contribute to a new perspective. I believe reaching a deal should be a priority, even if compromises should be made that look painful, because then you can move forward in any way. For example, regarding Macedonia's name and change in northern Macedonia, it is still the same country, with the same people, the issue with Greece has been resolved and we hope that all can move forward together”, he said.
Asked whether Washington's agreement has died after all statements by Prime Minister Kurti that it is not good for Kosovo, he says if Kurti says he is not interested, then he is dead.
Well, if he's not interested in it, then she's dead. This is the fundamental rule of negotiations, you must have two sides that want to agree on something. The key thing is the US role in everything, in the Kosovo conflict- Serbia or anywhere else.
Former US Secretary of State Jim Baker, who testified before Congress on the Arab-Israel issue, said that the UN “states cannot want more peace than the parties in the conflict”, so that when both sides in the conflict want to achieve peace, they will do it for themselves and not because of peace negotiators from the other side”, he said.
He claims that when he was national security adviser, and spoke with President Hashim Thaci and President Aleksandar Vucic, the possibility of a small territorial correction was considered and discussed.
If we could overcome the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991 and I know that history goes far beyond 30 years, then it could be part of a larger package that would lead us to a solution. If people don't want to talk about restoring the territory, by definition you remove a possible component solution and narrow options for a solution, and by definition it creates a situation in which the solution is more difficult.
Kosovo's government has all the right to say that it does not want to discuss the correction of the territory, but I think it practically means that there will be no progress in negotiations”, he says, and adds that he did not see the influence of Richard Green in the Balkans.
