Jeff Horonier's nomination, Citaku: Welcome to Kosovo Ambassador

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, has nominated Jeff Horvoneir for the new ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo. After this nomination, the former Kosovo ambassador to Washington Vlora Citaku has reacted.

Citaku has welcomed Havoneir, until he has shown that the same is a career diplomat and that he has been actively involved in dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, under Ahtisaari's mediation.

After confirmation from the Senate, Jeffrey M. Havenier will be the US ambassador to Kosovo. Jeffrey M. The appointment of the new ambassador has also congratulated the current US ambassador to Kosovo Philip S. Costett.

The new ambassador, Havenier, currently serves as deputy head of the US Embassy in Turkey. Previously, as a diplomat, he had also worked in Berlin, Germany, but also in Croatia, Greece, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.

Hovenier knows Kosovo well because during his diplomatic career he was part of the United Nations Special Envoy's staff for the Kosovo Status.

From Washington he had served as director for Central and Southeast Europe at the National Security Council, as well as at the State Department Bureau, for European and Eurasian affairs responsible for NATO and Central Europe.

In 2018, then President Hashim Thaci had decorated Hovenier with the Jewish Presidential Medal of the 10th anniversary of Independence for his contribution to Kosovo's freedom and independence.
