Hoxhaj: I am not a candidate for president, my decision for the good of the PDK and in support of the new leadership.

Task Speaker of The PDK, Enver Hoxhaj, at a media conference has spoken of the Convention's prepared process, the need to open the party, and the support it will give the new leadership to get out of this process.

Hoxhaj has thanked all party structures for backing, saying he was part of the PDK's grand victories, but he also had the fortune to lead him to the most critical moments of its existence.

“I have taken the PDK's temporary leadership at a difficult time both for our country and for the PDK itself. My goal was to get the PDK ready to face the challenges that Albin Kurt's authoritarian and isolationist governance brings. The Democratic Party of Kosovo has the legacy of liberation war, domestic independence and state-building. These PDK pillars place our party as the bearer of political battle against Kurti and Vetevendosje, who have no inheritance in the journey of Kosovo. On the contrary, they were the country's obstacle and blocker” has said Hoxhaj.

He also added that he believes the PDK needs to open up as a party, reflect on the changes in the country, and lead the battle to expose and oust Albin Kurti from power.

We have one of the most dangerous governments in the country today. The government, which is meant to corrupt any such land, isolate our country and establish authoritarian domination. So we should not be silent. The PDK must defend the achievements of this country, which are achievements even of Kosovo citizens. From Saturday, The PDK opens a new chapter. This chapter should mark the return of the PDK and convey the vision for the future of the party and the country. All the experience, knowledge and dedication will cost the strengthening, consolidation and return of the PDK as the winning party. The PDK is the most reformist party in Kosovo. He's always been able to find the way forward, renew it with people and new capabilities”, he said.

In the end, he has indicated that he will not be a candidate for PDK chairman, and the decision is a good one for the PDK.

I've traveled to her best moments, with PDK, to great victories. But it was also my destiny to lead her to the most critical moments of her existence. From these choices until now, I have worked with the latest energy; I have worked hard for The PDK, for Hashim Thaci, for Kadri Veselin, for the PDK electorate. A better Kosovo is my permanent ambition. I'm no candidate for party chairman. It is not a flight from the race, no responsibility, no work, no commitment. My decision today is in line with my decisions I have always made in PDK. This decision is in the best interests of PDK” he has said.
