Newspaper readers have sent video from the moment the helicopter releases water to extinguish the flames.
News of the Journal Express has confirmed the prevention inspector Nijazi Gashi, who has said the fire has been widespread on seven sites, but that it has already been located and dangerous.
“Yes, the fire has included part of Rugova Mountain, exactly at the village of Grand Staff. The fire was common in seven hearths, but it's almost already been located. The fire started two days ago, but thanks to the intervention the threat has already been removed, Gashi said.
Police spokesman Fadil Gashi has said police have emerged at the scene. KSF, firemen, KFOR.
“During the entire day at the scene have stayed KSF, Kosovo Police and Firemen. Police throw water cannons to extinguish the fire, while KFOR has also come to the aid of helicopters. The fire is still not completely extinguished, and the relevant units are dealing with the case. The route to Staff is blocked for citizens and can only pass competent institutions' officials”, Gashi has said.
He has appealed to citizens who appear in the Peja and Istog Bees for maximum care, since he says that fires can easily be heated by high temperatures.
