The Kosovo government has reacted after the violent arrest of PSD activists in today's action at the Ministry of Justice.
They said they are concerned by the images of violence that have been seen today, saying that the responsibility of this police operation has already been suspended until the IPK has even launched investigation into the case.
The Kosovo government says that “in democratic governance has no place for violence by anyone”.
The Government of Kosovo's full response:
We believe in the right to democratic protest because it is, first of all, an infallible right that is cultivated and guaranteed in democratic societies. Such is our society, and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo affirms that right. We are concerned by the images of violence today during a Social Democrat Party action. Kosovo police are responsible for maintaining order, public calm and protection of property, respecting human rights. The responsibility for the police operation has already been suspended, while the Kosovo Police Inspectorate is continuing further investigations into the case. There is no room for violence by anyone in democratic government.
