The G20 is required $75 billion to prepare for future pandemic

A panel of experts has told finance ministers of the G20 states, which are part of the rich countries, which Covid-19 is probably just one of the dangerous pandemics that may emerge in the future and that governments must find $75 billion in the next five years to prepare for [...]
In a report on the G20 Group meeting in Venice, the panel said that 15 billion dollars a year, which were recommended, are double the current but negligible expenditures compared to the cost of possible spreading another disease, Reuters reported, broadcast the Express.
The economic perspective of these additional investments is extraordinary”, said former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, who was part of the 23-member panel, where World Trade Organisation chief Ngozi Oconjo-Iweala participated.
Summers told Reuters in an interview that he is optimistic that the report's recommendations will be implemented and that he will not hesitate to raise his voice if this does not happen.
“Spending tens of billions of dollars could save tens of trillions”, he said.
To cover considerable gaps in the field of preparation for pandemic, the panel identified four key areas in which measures must be taken: monitoring infectious diseases, reinforcement of national health systems, supply of vaccines and global governance.
