Merkel, who is on a visit to Washington DC and will meet with US President Joe Biden, has reacted after the deadly floods, reports Bbc.
“Here in Washington, my mind is always with people in our homeland”, she said.
“We don't know the number yet, but there will be many in the basement of their homes, some like firefighters trying to secure others”, Die Welt quoted him as saying.
And I express my heartfelt condolences to their relatives. Everything will be done to find people who have yet to disappear”, the German cancellary added.
The German Chancellor said she was in close contact with German interior and finance ministers about the support the federal government can provide.
