Rama began his political career in 1998 when he was appointed as minister of culture, Youth, and Sports, which he held for two years. In 2000, he was first elected mayor of Tirana as he was re-elected in 2003 and 2007.
Meanwhile, in 2013 he was elected prime minister of Albanians, the post he still owns today, while calculating his third governing mandate after winning the 25 April elections.
