Over a thousand and 500 residents of Decani have sought medical assistance from Saturday to today because of poisoning.

Doubts are that poisoning came from the water of the drink.

Among the poisoned are also 51 children who have been sent to Peja Hospital for treatment.

“since Saturday so far has asked for health assistance to 77 citizens from Decani and 51 in the pediatric department and 26 in emergency“, Peja Hospital officials have said.

While the director of the main Family Medicine Centre in Decan, Selmon Berisha, has told the media today that the number of poisoned persons who have sought health assistance at this centre has gone to over 1,000 and 500.

He said the patient situation is good.

As many as two victims have been reported at this center for the past 24 hours, doctors from the QKMF have told Express that there have been other health problems, one with heart problems, so their deaths have not been linked to poisoning.

The Decani municipality, based on the Law on Local Self-Government and the Law on Prevention and Influencing Diseases of the Decani municipality, has made a decision today to declare a state of emergency in the entire territory of this municipality.

With this decision taken, it has been required to work on full human and human capacities to help the citizens of Decani.

While the Regional Water Company “Hedrodrin” has demanded that water in Decani villages be not used for drink.

Prosecutorship Begins Investigations

Two suspicious deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Decan.

Because of the situation created by poisoning, the death of these two persons has been described as suspicious.

Peja Prosecutor's spokesman Shkodran Nikci has told Express that after receiving information about the suspicious deaths because of the situation, the guardian prosecutor has demanded that the lifeless bodies be sent to exhibit.

While accepting information on poisoning, Nikci has stated that the prosecutor authorized police to take investigative action and the National Institute of Public Health to take some water samples and send them to the lab.

Initially after we received information, the prosecutor authorized Kosovo police for the investigative action and I The KSHPK will take some water samples and be sent to the labs of this institute, and depending on the final results will take further procedure actions“, he said.

Otherwise, Decani's chairman, Bashkim Ramosaj, has said yesterday at a news conference that because drinking water problems have had once again this month, it leads them to think that these problems might also be deliberate.

He has invited relevant institutions to deal with the case.

Health Minister Arben Vitita has visited the Decani municipality today, where he also met with the mayor of this municipality.

While, Vitita has said that along with Chairman Ramosaj and Director Selmon Berisha, they have drawn up a list of drugs to be treated with priority.

While director of the National Institute of Public Health Naser Ramadani has said that no track of investigations indicates that poisoning has occurred by water.
