Only a declared 17 October Local Elections Coalition among political parties

Albanian parliamentary political parties will compete alone in local elections, held on 17 October 2021. That happens after LVV, PDK, LDK and AAK have not expressed the will to compete as part of any coalition. During the 15-day term set by the Central Election Commission (KQZ), 16 June 30th, only two political parties from the ranks of the Bosniak community have expressed a desire to race as a coalition, while parties from the ranks of other communities will compete alone in the elections.
This was confirmed by CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi.
The “political parties registered in the Central Election Commission have had the opportunity to declare whether in the 17 October local elections they would participate in the election through the coalition, so not as alone. It is the legal obligation for the political party to announce that it will require a transfer through the coalition. During the deadline for coalition statements, the CEC has accepted only a declaration of election coalition signed between the two political parties from the ranks of the Bosniak community, Democraticska Stranka Bosniaka and Democraticska Stranka Vatan, named Koalcija V AKAT”, Elesi told the KP.
According to him, political parties that want to compete in elections through the coalition should take into account certain legal obligations.
“are some obligations for political parties that require certificates through the coalition. Political parties that claim to compete on behalf of the coalition will not be able to compete as alone in elections. Likewise, the political party, which withdraws from the coalition, cannot compete as alone, nor can it connect coalition with any other party, while the rest of that coalition could participate in the” elections, Elez said.
Elez explained that this deadline has only been for statements of participation in the election through the coalition and that the period for submitting the application for certificate and candidate lists for mayors and municipal municipalities will be completed on 16 August.
Even in the 2017 local elections, only one coalition had been declared, namely, the Coalition V AKAT of these two Bosniak parties, while the CEC had certified 35 political parties, 30 civic initiatives and 25 independent candidates, for mayors or for municipal municipalities, in various municipalities.
