“While in Kosovo, Senator Ernst will meet with government leaders, local entrepreneurs and other Kosovo partners to discuss co-operation within the framework of the Aeva State Partnership Programme with Kosovo, which is a golden standard for state partnership programmes worldwide”, said a spokesman for the American Embassy.
This programme is based on co-operation between the National Guard of Eva and the Kosovo Security Force (FSK).
“The US remains committed to supporting the KSF, in their transparent 10-year transformation towards a multiethnic territorial defence force. Joint activities between the National Guard of Ajova and Kosovo not only increase KSF capacities, but build important reports, present leadership and increase confidence between our two countries”, the American Embassy says.
The Senator from the state of Aleva, Ernst, has served for over 23 years in the American Army and is also the first, veteran army woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate.
In May 2021, KSF troops, together with members of the Aeva National Guard, left on a mission in Kuwait. This is the first mission abroad of the KSF.
According to the American Embassy, this represents Kosovo's will to share the responsibilities “beyond borders, joining the US and other partners to contribute to global security and stability”.
In 2018, following the legal changes adopted in the Kosovo Assembly, it has begun transforming KSF's mandate into armed forces. This process is expected to last ten years.
Otherwise, besides co-operation in the field of defence, business co-operation and exchanges in the field of education, they are key parts of the Partnership Programme between Montenegro and Kosovo. Under this programme, in May, the American Economic Oda signed an agreement with Drake University in Aeva to exchange students from Kosovo-based companies.
In addition, 26 graduates of the “Grate programme in Energy” from the Millennium Challenge Foundation have recently returned to Kosovo after completing two-year studies in energy-related fields at Del Moines Area Community College.
