The owners of Hendrix, nine months old, noticed a camera near the site where he was attacked, which was located by a neighbor whose cat had suffered a similar fate a year earlier.
The police examined the footage and discovered without the convict approaching the cat before taking something out of his bag and taking an unexpected leap toward it.
During the search at Bouquet's house, a knife with cat's blood was found on it and its DNA on the handle.
During his trial, lawyers heard how the owners of shocked cats found their animals bleeding on their doorstep, as well as spending thousands of euros on veterinarians.
Announcing the verdict, Judge Jeremy Gold said his behaviour was <x0mical, stable and a blow to the heart of family life”.
