The World Health Organization announced today that the world passed “the tragic historical drama” of the four million victims recorded by Corleone, adding that the actual number of pandemic was probably higher.
O Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebrreesus said the historic point had been reached, more than 18 months since the explosion emerged in China in December 2019.
“Bota is in a dangerous spot in this pandemic. We have just passed the tragic history of four million registered deaths, David-19, which likely underestimates the total number”, Tedros said at a press conference at O headquarters. The BSH in Geneva.
The general director of the UN health agency said some countries with high vaccine coverage were now “exacerbating as if the pandemic has already finished”, removing public health measures.
But he said that many countries around the world were seeing sharp increases in cases and hospitalization, due to rapidly moving strains of the virus and a shocking “infertility” in the global access to vaccines.
This is leading to an acute lack of oxygen, treatments, and the promotion of a death wave in parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. At this stage of pandemic, the fact that millions of health and care workers have not yet been vaccinated is disgusting,” said Tedros, broadcast AFP.
Tedros said variants were exceeding vaccines due to the uneven distribution of available doses, which he said were also threatening global economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
“From a moral, epidemiology or economic point of view, now is the time for the world to unite to deal with this pandemic collectively,” it said.
