European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the EU must keep the entire Western Balkan region on the European road.

Borrell addressed a forum in Dubrovnik on Saturday.

“The EU is the best combination of political freedoms and economic progress, as well as social solidarity in the world. We are not perfect, but we are the best, so we must continue with all those who share our vision. That means keeping our attention to the Western Balkans, including the revival of dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo”, Borrell said, broadcasts the REL.

He said that exiting the coronavirus pandemic appears on the horizon, but added that everyone must stay awake because of new emerging variants.

Borrell warned of the deterioration of the situation in Africa, where only three percent of the population has been vaccinated against coronavirus, compared with 60 percent in Europe.

He estimated that one of the consequences of pandemic would be “a world increasingly uncertain, less equal and less free”.

“Pabarazia will be visible not only among countries, but also within each individual location”, he said.

Borrell said it is important how the EU will be positioned in the triangle with the US and China, which, according to him, is making amazing economic development.

And according to him, China's influence is growing worldwide.

He said he believes competition between China and the US will form the world in the coming decades and that the EU must set a clear course, “looking through its” glasses.
