The United States is posing to evacuate thousands of Afghan applicants for special immigration visas who are endangered by the vengeance of the Taliban because they worked for the American government.
The first group of displaced people and their family are expected to arrive at a US military base in Virginia, where they will wait for the final treatment of their visa applications.
Special visas are available to Afghans who have worked as translators or other duties for the American government after the American troops entered Afghanistan in 2001.
American officials say about 18,000 apps for such visas are under consideration.
