The man told them that he had been attacked by a bear and that he had not slept for days after he continued coming to the vicinity.
He was found with bruised breasts and a wounded leg, reports the BBC, translates Periscope.
The helicopter crew had been on their way to carry a team of scientists on a research mission when they noticed the demand for help.
According to The New York Times, the man in question was left out of ammo for his gun and the door to the cabin where he was staying.
