The applicants, aged 29 and 28, were with a 27-year-old man who is now recovering from serious hypothermia at a hospital in Switzerland, writes the AP.
A team of alpine rescuers from Italy and Switzerland participated in the rescue operation, which became more challenging by strong winds and large quantities of snow.
Monte Rosa is the second - highest mountain in Alps and Western Europe, after Mont Blanc.
