American Professor and Western Balkan Affairs expert Alon Ben-Meir has once again addressed Serbia's relations with Russia.
Through this writing, Ben-Meir says Serbia has vowed never to impose sanctions on Russia, despite calls by the European Union and the United States of America to stay away from Putin”.
Ben-Meir says far that official Brograd has declared Russia to be Serbia's best ally, and chief Serbian Parliamentary Ivica Dcic has said he will not submit to pressure to impose sanctions on Russia.
“although it is a candidate for membership in the European Union, Serbia pledged never to impose sanctions on Russia. Despite calls from the European Union and the United States that Serbia must stay away from Putin, Belgrade officially declared that Russia is Serbia's best ally and protects its territorial integrity; deal with Kosovo independence. Ivica Dacic, the president of the Serbian Parliament, said that despite pressure, Serbia would never impose sanctions against its rival Russia.”, Ben-Mir wrote.
Furthermore, he writes that Serbia will never have a Western future if they continue to turn their backs on the European Union and the United States of America through such actions.
Also, in the end, the American professor writes that Belgrade should recognise Kosovo's independence reality as soon as possible and realise that there is no future in the EU if it stands by Putin's side.
The truth is Serbia will not have the Western future if they turn their backs on the EU and the United States. Belgrade is needed as soon as it is late to recognise the reality of Kosovo's independence and that a future in the EU is not possible if you remain close friends with Putin.”, writes Ben-May.
