Two memorandums of understanding and an interstate agreement were signed at “Economic Forum for Regional Co-operation” in Skopje between Prime Minister Edi Rama, counterpart Zoran Zaev and Serbian President Alexander Vuciq.
The three leaders have signed:
The Understanding for Relief of Import, Export and the Movement of Goods in the Western Balkans.
The Co-operation Agreement for Protection and Salvation from Disasters in the Western Balkans.
The memorandum for labour market movement in the region, in terms of temporary residence permits.
The document points out that “Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate import, export, and movement of goods in the Western Balkans” concerns: simplifying formalities related to import, export and movement/training of goods; customs co-operation and other competent authorities; as well as specific provisions for food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary issues; and free movement of non-food industrial products.
While, the “Agreement on Protection and Salvation Co-operation in the Western Balkans --” includes readiness among the 3 states for voluntary assistance in the event of disasters.
It includes planning and implementation of measures to protect from natural disasters and floods, earthquakes, fires, environmental pollution, boat accidents, radiological risks, pandemics, as well as industrial disasters and other disasters; mutual reporting on threats, events and the consequences of disasters; education and training of service personnel.
The third memorandum concerns the movement of the labour market in the region, in terms of temporary residence permits.
This is a confirmation of commitment to implement EU law in the field of free movement of workers and to prepare for closer integration into the EU's only market.
