So far, except Memli Krasniqi has announced the candidacy for the new chairman of the Democratic Party.
Krasniqi said days before the subject he participates in would have a democratic election process.
On July 3rd, we will have a democratic election process for the PDK chairman. Being proud of our journey for Kosovo, and feeling the great responsibility we have for the future, I have decided to run to lead PDK. I am fully convinced that together we will build the profile and team we need to give Kosovo and its citizens a real political address, which they desperately need. I am more than determined to together release the potential of democracy, meritocracy and dedication, so that the PDK will be the door open to everyone it wants and there is what to give the country, society and state institutions”, Krasniqi said on the day he declared his candidacy before the Steering Council.
Whether there will be any counterCandidate Krasniqi remains to be seen by this afternoon.
PDK MP Ganimete Musliu reminded officials of this subject that they have only until today to submit the candidacy.
The “task force for organising the extraordinary PDK Convention held the regular meeting. By 5 o'clock tomorrow, we expect candidacys for PDK chairman”, Musliu wrote yesterday.
Enver Hoxhaj, who led him The PDK, following Kadri Veselin's resignation and the arrest of The Hague, has signaled last night that he may be one of the candidates.
“We also have time tomorrow to submit candidacys for the first PDK. The convention is more important than who will be chairman. Hoxhaj also spoke last night of Chitak's role in the new PDK chairmanship, saying it would be part of the leadership.
“Vlora Citaku will be a member of the PDK leadership. I met with him 4 hours ago”, Hoxhaj said last night.
On November 5, 2020, Kadri Wessel, chairman of The PDK resigned from all its positions in the subject, following confirmation of the indictment and his arrest by The Hague.
Since then, the subject has been leading Enver Hoxhaj.
The PDK in the February 14th elections managed to be listed as the second party, by a large margin from the LVV-Lista Guxo coalition.
The PDK received 17% of the general vote and secured 19 seats in the Kosovo Assembly. Right now, The PDK has 18 deputies after Adelina Grainca joined the Vetevendosje Movement.
