Massive floods in central China, which were caused by record rainfall, have left 12 people dead and over 100,000 displaced from their homes.

Floods have affected over ten cities of the Henan province. On the Internet's web screens are seen people immersed in water to the chest in roads and train stations.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that the situation for preventing flooding is very severe and at a critical stage, the BBC writes, broadcast Gazeta Express.

He added that the floods have already resulted in considerable loss of people's and property lives and instructed all departments to prioritize the security of people and their property, state news agency Xinhua reported.

The Henan province, where 94 million people live, has released the highest level of alarm for bad weather. Local authorities described these flows as events that occur once every 100 years.

The water level on several dams and reservoirs has passed the warning ladder, and soldiers have been mobilized to change the flow of rivers that have been released. Train trips and planes have been suspended in many parts of the Henan province.

According to local media reports, about 700 travelers to Yehngzhou remained stranded on a train for at least 40 hours. It is said that they were supplied with food but not in sufficient quantity.
