Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said on Friday that negotiations mediated by the European Union for normalising relations with Kosovo will resume within days.

He did not specify the date for the resumption of talks, but said: “We are talking for days, not weeks”, adding that Serbia is always ready to talk and that his country does not want a frozen conflict, writes Free Europe.

The Serbian president spoke after Palmer and Lajcak's visit to Belgrade, which urged Belgrade to resume talks. The Serbian government has declared that the normalisation process with Kosovo is one of its priorities.

Before the visit to Serbia, Palmer and Lajcak were also in Kosovo. Washington and Brussels have said normalising the reports is essential for further integration of Kosovo and Serbia into Euro-Atlantic institutions.

The Kosovo government has initially said dialogue with Serbia is not among the first priorities. However, it seems that international pressure has made it its own, and already the resumption of negotiations seems inevitable.
