In current media conditions, where Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq's Serbian Progressive Party has a dominant impact on most written and electronic media, especially those with national frequency, editorial board and owners of “Novas” tried to find a printery in Serbia, but failed, Croatian medium Index.hr reported.
“Noova” will be written and edited by journalists from the Novas.rs portal, which is owned by United Media Digital, headquartered in Luxembourg, the company that is a member of United Group.
United Group owns regional cable televisions N1 and Nova, and the latest acquisition of this company has recently become Belgrade's liberal-civil newspaper Danas.
The ruling party claims United Group is corporate struggling against Serbia's interests
The SNS and the ruling Vuciki groups see the United Group as media corporation supporting the Serbian opposition and working against Serbia's state and national interests, although the Serbian Parliament is under the control of Vuciqi almost 100% after the June 2020 parliamentary elections, except for the Albanian and Bosniak minority parties.
Such a balance of power prevails in the media sphere, where the ruling coalition controls or enjoys the unequivocal favor of most of the written media, especially of the drawings ʹ Kurir, Informer, Alo, Srpske, Target, Vecernji Novosti, and conservative politics, as well as some other portals, namely national-frequency electronic media.
The Serbian ruling coalition essentially controls the electronic media regulatory body in Serbia (REM), while some non-parliamentary opposition parties and their leaders are under constant attack by the media close to Vuciqi.
The rule of law, the state of human rights and freedoms, especially freedom in the media, is one of the ongoing remarks by official Brussels and the European Union's bodies in reports on Serbia's progress in the European integration process, the Express broadcasts.
“We were not shocked by the rejection of virtually all printing presses in Serbia, which, contrary to economic logic, expressed utter disinterest to print a new gaze, despite the fact that they all had” capacity, was highlighted in the announcement announcing the opening of the print newspaper “Nova”.
The paper will be printed in Osijek, Croatia, published six times a week
The newspaper's editor-in-chief, Stojan Drelick, and portal and newspaper director Veselin Simonovic, estimate that <x0frika from the regime's reaction exceeded market reasons” on the part of the printers in Serbia.
We fought against rejection and ignorance and printed this paper in unprecedented conditions in the history of Serbian journalism. However, we insisted”, Drelick and Simonovic said.
The newspaper “Noova” will be printed in Osijek, from where it will be distributed throughout Serbia, and will have a price of about 25 years. It will be published six times a week on 32 pages.
We will adhere to higher journalistic standards, analyse all relevant facts, and give space to profession, science and those in public life who promote tolerance, European values and see Serbia in the future in fair, sustainable democracy. The newspaper's pages will always be open to different opinions, but not for primitiveism and demagog”.
“We all deserve a better Serbia together”, was the message from the management of the new newspaper, the first number of which was announced to be published on June 30th.
