A male MP said the way some women dressed is ridiculous in parliament.
“Chairman, an example is my sister sitting on my right with a yellow shirt. Look at the pants she's wearing, Mayor!”, Hussein Ammar said Tuesday in parliament.
Parliament Speaker later ordered the MP, Condester Sichwale, to leave, the BBC reports.
“Go and dress well and then join us again later”, Chairman Job Ndugai told him.
He added that this was not the first complaint he had received about the dress of women who are deputies of parliament and told people who monitor entry to deny entry to anyone who was dressed inappropriately.
While Amar did not elaborate on what she saw wrong in Mrs. Sichwale's dress. He cited parliamentary rules that allow women to wear pants, but determine that clothes should not be tight.
A group led by MPs Jacques Ngonyani and Stella Manyanya insist it was unfair and that there was nothing wrong with Mrs. Sichwale's clothes.
