Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, at a media conference following the joint table with the leaders of the region, under the Western Balkans Summit, has announced that the state he represents has shared a million vaccines for citizens of these countries.
Chancellor Kurz has said Austria remains committed to helping the countries of this region in the fight against pandemic.
We have sent over 600 thousand doses for the Western Balkans. And as the Republic of Austria, we want to make a contribution by making one million doses of the vaccine available. We will send a million to support the fight against the pandemic”, said Kurz.
In addition to the pandemic, some of the topics discussed at today's summit were the joint struggle against illegal migration, the EU's perspective for all countries in this region, and economic support to be offered to these countries after the crisis.
In addition to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, a special representative of the EU for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, Serbia's prime minister, Ana Brnatic, northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, Montenegrin Prime Minister Zoran Tegeltija and Belinda Baku from the Government of Albania participated.
Before the summit, Kurz had also declared he would support Balkan countries on their way to the EU.
