His daughter, Anna Mladic, who was 23 years old, was found dead on March 25th 1994 at her parents' home in Belgrade. She reportedly had shot herself in the head with her father's (Ratko Mladic) gun.
Ratko Mladic had refused to admit that his daughter had committed suicide. He insisted that his daughter was killed by his political opponents, while Mladic, who had power, had his version imposed as real for a long time.
Despite this, the truth of this event was the result of the investigation into the scene on the second floor of the Mladic family home, where Anna was found dead in bed with a gun in her hand. It was this gun, which clarified Anna's purpose, and what had led the young girl to end her life.
The revolution was a 7.65mm-old that Ratko Mladic had received a gift from the Military Command Academy, when he was promoted to major, when he served as deputy commander of Pristina-based troops.
Bosa Mladic, Ratko Mladic's wife in her statement, has said the gunshot was heard at 6am.
There were no signs of anyone's entry in the house, so there was no doubt that someone might have entered and killed Ratko Mladic's daughter.
While the official outcome of police investigations says Ana Mladic had committed suicide. Further investigations indicated that she had experienced the newspaper's charges against her father over the Bosnia killings.
Today, Ratko Mladic was sentenced to life imprisonment. Reading his decision took about an hour.
The Appeals Chamber dismissed all complaints filed by Mladic's defence.
