She has said she has expected Mladic to be convicted of genocide for other municipalities where the crimes were committed during the Bosnian war, writes Radio Sarajevo.
Former Republika Srpska Army General Ratko Mladic has been sentenced to life imprisonment by The Hague Tribunal for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity against non-Serb people in the Bosnian war.
The Court of Appeals has rejected all complaints of Mladic's defence.
The chairman of the court, Prisca Matamba Nyarbe, declared the Apel Chamber's findings that Mladic could not reject his involvement in the crimes.
“The Appeals Chamber finds Mladic failed to reject his involvement in a joint criminal enterprise to commit genocide, murder and persecution”, Matimba Njamb chairman said.
The Appeals Chamber also dismissed all complaints by criminal Mladic's lawyers about the former Serbian general's right to a fair trial. According to the chairman of the court, the Appeals Chamber is of the opinion that his rights have not been violated.
“Z. Mladic has contributed to the achievement of the goal and worked on it. He has contributed to the genocide and murder of Bosnian Muslims”, the chairman of the court said.
As she further stated, Mladic offered no evidence that civilian victims were able to leave their homes.
The Appeals Chamber finds that Mladic failed to dismiss evidence concerning this charge and also accuse him of limiting the distribution of humanitarian aid.
The Appeals Chamber concludes that it did not oppose the evidence and that the displacement of elderly women and men was mandatory”, Matamba Nyamb said.
She said the Appeals Chamber is pleased to have managed to confirm that Mladic has been guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity, kidnapping, persecution and violations of the laws of war.
“He contributed to a comprehensive criminal enterprise and shared his objectives”, the chief judge said.
As she said, Mladic failed to prove that the first-degree court, which sentenced him to life imprisonment, was mistaken in any case.
