28-year-old Alberto Sánchez Gómez was arrested in 2019 after police found parts of a body near his mother's home in several plastic containers.
The court denied Sánchezi's arguments that he was experiencing a psychotic episode at the time of the murder, writes BBC, translates Periscopi.
He will now spend 15 years in prison for murder.
He has also been ordered to pay his brother 60 thousand euros in compensation.
Police had arrived at his home in eastern Madrid in February 2019 after a friend raised concerns about the welfare of María Soledad Gómez, who was in his 60 ' s.
