Serbian cleric after meeting with Lajcak and Palmer: Kosovo for us is like Jerusalem for Jews

During their visit to Belgrade, EU Special Envoy for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer have met with the head of the Orthodox Church of Serbia, Patriarch Porfirije.

At this meeting, Lajcak has indicated that with the Serbian clergyman they have discussed dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

On the other hand, the cleric Seb has reacted sharply to this meeting. The Bosnian political science doctor Jasmin Mujanovic, calling it a terrible decision, since, according to him, should not be factored into the heads of religious institutions on issues related to politics.

The Serbian patriarch Porfirije himself, who has said that Kosovo is what Jerusalem is for Israel, was after this meeting.

For Serbs, Kosovo is what Jerusalem is for Jews and Peja Patriarchate for the Orthodox Church is what the Vatican is for the Catholic Church”, Porfirije has said of Serbian media.

Among other things, he has said Kosovo, “Republika Srpska” and Montenegro are of vital importance to Serbia, until it has led the charges towards official Pristina that Kosovo is not interested in dialogue.
