Saudi Arabia has decided to allow 60,000 believers vaccinated against the Coronavirus to perform the Hagi ritual this year.
But authorities stressed that this green light is worth itself, for locals, as foreigners will not be allowed to participate.
Officials explained that ceremonies would be open “to citizens and citizens of the kingdom, with a limited number of 60,000 pilgrims”.
They stressed that persons between 18 and 65 years of age “who want to perform Haxhi should not have chronic diseases and be vaccinated”.
This ceremony attracts more than 2 million visitors to the Muslim holy cities of Mecca and Medina each year.
Hagi this year is scheduled to be held on July 17th through July 22nd. In 2020, it developed with only 1,000 believers.
For the second year in a row, many countries have already canceled their state-organised pilgrimages to Mecca.
The five-day ritual is one of the five pillars of Islam, and the task that each Muslim has the physical ability to carry out once in his life can afford to travel.
