Skenderaj today marks the day of liberation from Serbian occupation! Former Commander The KLA in the Drenica Operative Zone, Sami Lushtaku, remembers this moment with emotion because he says he had not initially thought he would experience the day of liberation and that that that day there was mixed emotions of pain and pride. He says that besides joy, he felt even more pain for his fallen friends and the loss of the lives of many citizens.
It's been a very mixed emotion for me. First I never expected to experience the day of deliverance to experience that satisfaction, but I also felt frustrated. Because part of my friends and many citizens were killed and many families were left without their loved ones, so emotions have been too mixed. It was very difficult when I entered Skenderaj and that day was never forgotten for me, ever since, 18x1...
Skenderaj is the first city to have faced fierce war with Serbian forces, thus marking the beginning of open resistance with war against the Serbian occupant, but which is the last city to be freed. The reason why Skenderaj was released last Lushtaku says not to be clear, but assumes this has occurred as a result of the large concentration of Serbian forces in this region.
“The allegations can all be given, but neither am I clear, but I suppose the Serbian Military and Police Forces have been mostly concentrated in this part and have had a hard time pulling”, Lushtaku said.
