The veteran journalist made the announcement from her London studio four weeks after not being seen on the air.
Amanpour has spent decades reporting around the globe in many areas of crisis and conflict.

Ammanpour said he had confidence in her treatment, adding that she was fortunate to have health coverage for her treatment.
