EU High Representative for Dialogue Between Kosovo and Serbia Miroslav Lajcak and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer have held a brief, joint conference in Pristina.
They did not accept many questions for journalists, even at the beginning of their questions, they said that they asked only one question for each one.
When Lajcak was asked about his previous statement about changing the Constitution of Kosovo and Serbia, he said there is not much time for questions because he has to catch the plane, but that his former statement has been misunderstood. Despite that, he adds, his statement has been in the sense that a final agreement must be accommodated in the national legislation of the parties (Pristine and Belgrade), writes Periscopi.
Periscopi brings 5 messages that gave the two-way dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia:
Lajcak's messages:
1.On this visit, we are designed to prepare the meeting, which will be held in a few days between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vuciq.
2.The form of how the Association should be done is in the hands of the parties (Kosovo and Serbia).
3.“It's kind of a good tradition somehow you put something in my mouth that I didn't say. When an agreement is reached, this commitment to an agreement must also be exposed to your national legislation. I said that this is what parties negotiate, they have to do this, what they're going to do, that's what dialogue will show. All issues are in Pristina and Belgrade's duties. The form of how to become the Association is in the hands of the” parties
Palmer Messages:
4.The US is not a party to dialogue, but we are assistants, we are here to help Miro Lajcak and the EU in this process. The US strongly supports an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
5.Not bars from US, EU for possible compromises, but from parties involved in dialogue. /Periscopi/
