Kosovo Police General Director Samedin Mehmeti has expressed condolences to all persons who lost their families in traffic accidents.
Mehmet at a media conference said that increased traffic accidents have affected period after closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while saying this growth is taking place not only in Kosovo but also in other countries.
“E we have an unacceptable situation and a situation that is bad. It's been a very heavy week where in one day we lost four members of a family”.
After a Kosovo Police analysis of the causes, what are the reasons why we have an increase in traffic accidents as we have been facing a large influx of traffic accidents in Kosovo and which are also causing the loss of the lives of citizens”.
“Studies have shown that the period after <x1lock down” has increased the number of accidents not only in Kosovo but also in other countries. However, the period following the closure has also affected increased cases of violence, whether it be murder or violation. Aggressive driving has contributed to the increase in accidents”.
Mehmeti disclosed that to prevent accidents in two operations, all Kosovo Police units have engaged.
Kosovo Police are currently in two active operations where one operation has to do with the locks of all specially motorized vehicles which we confiscated over 1200 teams in the cities of Kosovo”.
“While in the overall aspect is an operation across Kosovo, which has been launched by the last week of May, and in this operation all of the traffic units combined even with the speed response units aimed at prevention, and there are no cases where three or four persons lose their lives in traffic are locked in the special unit”, Mehmeti said.
