There is no deadline for dialogue, but the longer the dialogue process lasts, the harder it will be. The US wants an agreement ending with mutual recognition.
So has declared US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer, who in an interview for Kosovo public television, has said the question of dialogue is best carried out as soon as possible.
As for the Association, Palmer has said the parties involved in the dialogue should respect all agreements reached so far.
The “must respect all agreements reached. I understand there are parameters of the Association Agreement that should be discussed, but this should not hinder the process. It won't tell you what Kosovo should do. The Kosovo government decides how to approach this issue”, Palmer has said.
Furthermore, he declared that the decision on constitutional changes, which have recently been discussed, belongs to Kosovo.
Kosovo must see what its options are, what Kosovo has to give this process. It's not easy”
As for changing borders, Palmer said “I don't think that's in the mood. It's not up to me to identify red lines in this process. The Kosovo side has been quite clear on this matter”.
