The Palestinian authority on Friday cancelled the deal to receive the vaccine for David-19 from Israel, which was recently expired, as in the first shipment it was seen that the expiration date of their deadline was earlier than the one agreed upon by the parties, the Health Ministry said.
Israel and the Palestinian Authority reached agreement earlier Friday, with which Israel would donate the other side up to 1.4 million doses of the company “Pfixer”, provided the same number came back later this year.
“They told us that the expiration date is in July or August, which would allow much time for use, but it turned out to be in June. That's enough to use them, so we rejected”, said Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Kala.
A spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority said the initial shipment of about 90,000 doses was canceled because of the date and turned back to Israel, Reuters writes.
The Israeli prime minister's office, Naphtali Bennett, did not immediately respond to the demand for comment on the matter.
Human rights groups have criticised Israel, which has one of the fastest vaccine campaigns against Coronavirus in the world, because it has done little to ensure even Palestinians access to vaccines.
