Ambassador Orlando has announced that he has been appointed special envoy for Libya, until he has added that Kosovo has the country in the EU.
This is the full statement of Ambassador Orleans:
This comes unexpectedly, but my mission to Kosovo will be completed in late June, after just a year and a half.
I am humble and grateful for the faith of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, who has appointed me his special envoy for Libya. At the same time, I am sad to leave Kosovo so soon. I was just beginning to get acquainted with this beautiful and attractive place.
I am deeply grateful to my colleagues at the Embassy, my international partners and especially the people of Kosovo who supported me at the first moment and made me feel at home.
Kosovo's path towards justice, prosperity and internal and external harmony is sometimes bumpy, but always clear. It leads to Europe, where Kosovo belongs together with other Western Balkan countries. I am grateful that I have had the privilege of being a witness, though briefly, for Italy's steadfast commitment to that purpose.
Ambassadors come and go, but the long and honest friendship between the two countries and our peoples will remain forever. Thank you.
