Prices of derivatives, which have been raised this year, are not expected to stop. The Oil Association warns even higher price increases in the coming days. Currently, on the Kosovo market a litre of oil costs nothing less than 1.10 euros, while gasoline is up to 1. 15.

Oil Association Chairman Fadil Berjan in an interview for Kosovo Press says the countries of the region are warning even higher increases in the prices of derivatives, which are expected to reflect in Kosovo as well.

“As far as prices are concerned in the oil sector, prices range from point (fuel) to point, and today a litre of oil is 1.03 euros to 1.10 euros, gasoline 1.07 to 1.12 euros. So these are prices. (Companies) They've only reflected, I think that the amount of prices have increased, while retail is roughly the same prices, but in the world markets it's only reflected on us to reflect on us in the coming days the rise of the” price, Berjan points out.

In addition, the challenge remains the administrative guideship for control and quality of liquid oil fuels or contracts for the MTI-elect company for the branding of fuel.

The head of the association, Berjan, says they are not against the marketing, but as he points out, they are against a private company that is profiting millions of euros in the issue. As he adds that the contract should be cut off because of the monopoly.

We have also raised our voices to this problem and addressed former Prime Minister Kurti, MINT Minister Roseta Hajdari. The Oil Association is not against the marketing of oil derivatives, but we are for the Kosovo Customs to accomplish this job as all the states of the world and Europe do, and not to be given a private company. That private company played the game pretty well, has this situation with regard to Arbitrazh. However, I predict it because it is not by law, with an administrative guide this company cannot win Arbitrazhi, but nevertheless it needs to be investigated and taken into account all these cases that have been made so far. That contract (for fuel marketing) has to be cut off, that contract cannot continue, and the association will not predict pigmentation or dye because Kosovo is a new state, can continue without it. And that authorized company will not enjoy this right to benefit millions of euros”, he says.

The head of the association says Kosovo is soon expected to be done with the oil Law, which will regulate the derivative market even as far as the fuel signature is concerned.

All of our demands, oilmen, to be injected into the oil Law, which is being drafted and I believe that the oil law will now be passed 12 years after 12 years, as it was 12 years for personal interests the oil Law has not passed, the red tape it has been until now will be eliminated”, he says.

As Kosovo has no refinery of its own, economic operators import about 650 million litres of these derivatives within a year. Import occurs mainly from Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
