They will not be continued contracts from the Ministry of Health.
The ministry last year had employed about 360 nurses for hospital medical staff and COVID clinics.
Nurse Arlinda Hadri said it was not fair that the contract continued, as she said they were close to patients in the most difficult days.
We've never received additions since this was a difficult situation and we've never pressured you, we don't ask for anything but follow-up contracts just as they needed us”.
We got an e-mail that doesn't have the funds to continue with you. 422 nurses are employed, and how come they had funds for us and not for us, how can they assure us that they have to hire us? I didn't get the right way of announcing”, she said.
In addition, she said these salaries have fed their families, adding that the protests will continue until the requirements are met.
Victor Havolly, from the Infermies Union, said he has come out to support these nurses because according to him, it is unfair what is being done to these health workers.
These “have been a great help to all clinics, especially with the pandemic state, these very young people stood by and helped us”, Havol said.
In this protest, Arben Vaj, director of the Infectious Clinic, briefly told nurses not to fall prey to personal interests but to protect their rights, for according to him, their work has been holy and very valuable.
Nurses were financed through a World Bank loan, as part of the emergency project to manage pandemic in Kosovo.
The nurses were employed by contracts for six months.
